How a ReyVend transaction works:
- Payment pre-authorization: customer taps/inserts card or uses a mobile wallet.
- Door unlock & prompts: Once payment is authorized, the lock on the door releases, and customer can open the smart cooler.
- Shop: Customer can freely "take" take multiple items that are inside the smart cooler similar to grabbing things from a refrigerator.
- Close: Once items are selected, the customer closes the door or does nothing--the door is on a hinge and will close automatically.
- Detect & price: AI cameras interpret what items were took and calculate the total dollar amount of the items.
- Auto-checkout: ReyVend voids the pre-authorization performed in step one and charges the cardholder the exact amount. A digital receipt is displayed on the card reader.

Payment Pre-Authorization and incremental authorization
- The pre-authorization amount can be set by the operator. Because we have something called incremental pre-authorization, no need to worry if the authorization amount is less than the final transaction--a true up occurs at the end!
- After door closes, only items that were taken are charged; the pre-auth is immediately released and a final settlement occurs.
- If nothing is taken, the issuer releases the authorization per network rules.
